The Clinical Microbiology Laboratory utilizes state-of-the-art technology for the rapid and accurate diagnosis of infectious diseases. It is a full service laboratory with an outstanding technologist staff. The laboratory offers diagnostic services in the following areas:
The Molecular Microbiology section has grown substantially over the last few years and now offers specialized testing not available in many laboratories. Tests include HIV viral load, Hepatitis C virus quantitative assay, Hepatitis C virus genotyping, Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae detection as well as molecular assays for the detection of Borrelia burgdorferi (Lyme disease), Babesia microti (Babesiosis) and Anaplasma phagocytophila (Ehrlichiosis).
The Clinical Microbiology Laboratory continues to serve as a reference lab for the diagnosis of Lyme disease and other tick-borne diseases.
