prn-LDMS, the Laboratory DocumentManagement System, manages Laboratory policies, proceedures, & protocols paperlessly via web pages, and replaces the need for paper policies, proceedures, & protocols. Thus prn-LDMS centralizes the management of policies, proceedures, & protocols and eliminates the problem of constantly updating paper documents.
prn-LDMS, the Laboratory DocumentManagement System, is designed by a Board Certified Pathologist to conform with the requirements of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) for computerized laboratory manuals and procedures. prn-LDMS tracks, and prompts for, annual document review by laboratory director or the disginate of the director as required by CAP. Annual reviews of relevant manuals and its documents by labortory technologists is tracked and technologist is prompted at logon to review any document, relevant to the technologists duties, near or past the required review date. Supervisory personnel can view annual review compliance to insure that reviews are being conducted.
Edits, and the reason for edits, to documents are maintained as required by CAP, and prn-LDMS records the exact dates of every document revision and the duration of every document version. Thus, For any given date the system will produce for viewing/printing the specific document enforce at that date.
Installation of prn-LDMS, the Laboratory DocumentManagement System, is a simple copy from CD onto any drive, 3 click and go! No lengthly or complicated installs. prn-LDMS has been tested on Microsoft XP-pro, NT2000, NT2003 server.
prn-LDMS comes with its own web server (apache) and database (mySQL) to minimize installation issues. In addition, this design feature makes prn-LDMS uniquely simple to comply with CAP requirement to provide for a solution to network outages or hardware failures. prn-LDMS need not use an internet connection and any computer with a ubs connection will function as a local prn-LDMS server. Moreover this design feature makes for simple backups and as required by CAP a verification module is included to insure that when restoring the system from backup copy or when responding to a network outage or server failure there is no corruption in the restored system.
